The Los Angeles Lakers have started to make a push toward what they hope will be a playoff spot, as they have won four of their last five games.
But they will have to continue a good amount of that push without their franchise player.
In Sunday’s stirring victory over the Dallas Mavericks, LeBron James suffered a right foot injury and apparently heard a pop. He continued to play, and despite lacking mobility, he had an effective fourth quarter, scoring 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
He will reportedly be out for at least the next two weeks with that right foot injury.
ESPN Sources: LeBron James’s right foot is expected to be reassessed in two weeks to see how much progress he’s made, but timeline on return expected to extend beyond that checkpoint. Where Lakers reside in standings by then could impact how soon it makes sense for him to return.

This will be a stiff challenge, but an opportunity nonetheless for L.A.’s other players, particularly its newcomers, to step up and prove their worth.
