LeBron James says sports wouldn’t be the same without the fans

While discussing the idea of finishing the NBA season without any fans, LeBron James says sports wouldn’t be the same if they were played behind closed doors.

LeBron James appeared on the latest episode of the Road Trippin’ podcast. Road Trippin’ is part of the Uninterrupted network owned by LeBron and Maverick Carter. During the appearance on the podcast hosted by Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye and Allie Clifton, the conversation shifted to the idea of playing NBA games without fans in the stands.

According to James, those games just wouldn’t be the same without the energy and enthusiasm that passionate fans provide.

“There’s no excitement,” James said about playing a game without fans. “There’s no crying. There’s no joy. There’s no back-and-forth. I just don’t know how we can imagine a sporting event without fans.”

James also told the Road Trippin’ podcast that he will no longer do high-fives. He said he will have some new handshakes that will most likely include social distancing. LeBron also added that ESPN cannot fire Richard Jefferson based on who he’s friends with.
