LeBron James, in his own words, is more than just an athlete. As he powers through the latter phase of his career and continues to be as productive as ever, he is apparently planning the next phase of his life.
Although commissioner Adam Silver hasn’t confirmed it, the NBA seems poised to add at least one expansion franchise within the next few years. The candidate cities are believed to be Seattle, Mexico City and Las Vegas.
James has made it clear in recent months that he would love to own an expansion team in Las Vegas. With his team set to play the New Orleans Pelicans in Thursday’s semifinal round of the in-season tournament in Las Vegas, he repeated that desire.
LeBron James: “Hopefully I can bring my franchise here one day. That’s the ultimate (goal).”

James reportedly has a net worth of at least $1 billion, and his business empire has continued to expand. Given rising team valuations across all major pro sports, he would likely need a number of partners to achieve his goal, but he shouldn’t have much, if any, trouble finding such partners.
