LeBron James makes ‘Wakanda Forever’ gesture before Game 5

LeBron James paid homage to Chadwick Boseman before Saturday night’s Game 5 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was one of several who expressed their grief and sadness at the passing of Chadwick Boseman on Friday night. LeBron expressed how tired he has become with 2020 and the constant sense of loss earlier in the day, but James also honored Boseman and in particular, the iconic role he played as King T’Challa in ‘Black Panther.’

James was one of the driving forces to restart the season and he will no doubt come out motivated in the Laker attempt to close out the series against Portland. During the national anthem, James paid tribute to Boseman by doing the “Wakanda Forever” salute.

The Lakers dominated the Blazers ever since losing in Game 1 of the series. The Blazers are without Damian Lillard, who left the NBA bubble after suffering a lateral knee sprain. The Lakers didn’t have a great start to the first quarter with Anthony Davis picking up two early fouls but they rallied very well to win the quarter 35-31.
