Fox News host Laura Ingraham had pointed words for LeBron James and Kevin Durant in 2018, telling them to “shut up and dribble” when both athletes criticized President Trump.
Her “stick to sports” metric doesn’t apply to Saints quarterback Drew Brees though, who she vigorously defended on her broadcast Tuesday evening over comments he made about Colin Kaepernick’s police brutality protest.
There was a clear double standard at work, where LeBron’s comments were dismissed outright, but Brees was allowed express his views because, in her words, “he’s a person, he has some worth I would imagine.”
LeBron wasn’t about to let the discrepancy go unnoticed, and held Ingraham accountable.

If you still haven’t figured out why the protesting is going on. Why we’re acting as we are is because we are simply F-N tired of this treatment right here! Can we break it down for you any simpler than this right here???? And to my people don’t worry I won’t stop until I see CHANGE!!! #ShutUpAndDribbleThisPowerfulBlackManComingFullSteam
Brees has been roundly criticized for his remarks and issued an apology that was met with mixed emotions from the NFL world.
Ingraham has been accused of making racist comments in the past, drawing enough controversy that advertisers have threatened to pull their support from her program. Here, it’s clear that there’s a double standard for white athletes and black athletes.
James fired back at her comments in 2018 and he’s been stepping up to fight for systemic change his entire career. He’s not going to stop anytime soon.
