LeBron James drops season-high 40 to push past Pelicans, Zion

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James had his best performance of the season in a showdown against Zion Williamson and the Pelicans.

LeBron James dropped a season-high 40 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to an impressive 118-109 win over Zion Williamson and the surging New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. Williamson had 29 points and six rebounds in the loss for the Pelicans. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis was huge on the defensive end for the Lakers as he had 21 points, 11 rebounds, and six blocks to power the Lakers to victory.

While the two stars for the Lakers did their jobs to make an impact on Tuesday, the Lakers got a huge boost from one of their fan favorites in Alex Caruso. Caruso was huge, including a block and a steal against former Laker Lonzo Ball, finishing with eight points, eight assists and a game-high +20. One of Caruso’s assists came on this awesome early dunk by LeBron James.

James also had a monstrous 3rd quarter with 16 of his 40 points coming in the third period.

Brandon Ingram had 34 points for the Pelicans as well.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 15 points off the bench and Danny Green provided 17 points in the starting point guard role. New Laker Markieff Morris also played 15 points and had four points. Now the Lakers will embark on a three-game road trip starting Thursday where they will go to Golden State, Memphis, and New Orleans to close out the week.
