When the NBA announced that Los Angeles Lakers teammates Anthony Davis and LeBron James were the first Lakers teammates to make an All-NBA team since Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal in 2003-04, the first reaction of James was to shout out his teammate, without which that milestone would not have been possible.
On Wednesday, James dedicated an Instagram post to Davis for how great he was, recognizing what he did. The Lakers traded basically everything they had for Davis and it was more than worth it, something James celebrated on Wednesday afternoon after the NBA announcement.
James needed a little bit more time to reflect on his NBA-record 16th All-NBA selection and still admitted he didn’t know exactly what to say after passing NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, and Tim Duncan, for the most All-NBA selections in NBA history.
LeBron has usually been consistent in his reactions to passing All-Time greats: reverence for those who came before him and an appreciation of those who helped him get to this level. With him crediting Davis before taking stock of his own accomplishment, that consistency shined through once again.
