LeBron James blasts Drew Brees for saying kneeling disrespects flag

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James went off on comments from Drew Brees that surfaced from an interview on Wednesday.

While the details about how the NBA plans to restart are getting ironed out, amid a backdrop of public unrest over the past week, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been as vocal as ever. He has used his platform to call out violence against black Americans and call attention to peaceful protests, while also challenging his followers to think about what could be uncomfortable issues. That continued on Wednesday, but LeBron didn’t just share his own position, he scolded one of the biggest names in the NFL for a lack of understanding about protests, Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

LeBron blasted Brees for saying that kneeling during the national anthem, like Colin Kaepernick and several other NFL players did, is “disrespectful” to the flag of the United States of America. It’s not a question of disrespect, but a question of right and wrong, according to LeBron.

In recent days, LeBron has pointed out that Kaepernick’s kneeling was directly connected to the unrest that has broken out all across the country following the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.
