LeBron James achieves a new scoring milestone

LeBron James has now become the first NBA player to score 39,000 career points.

LeBron James continues to play at an elite level at age 38 and in his 21st season, and he has stabilized the Los Angeles Lakers after they lost five of their first eight games this season.

He has had back-to-back monster games of 35 and 37 points as the Lakers have put together five wins in their last six games. Through 13 games, James is averaging 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists a game while shooting an unreal 58.6% from the field, as well as an excellent 39.7% from 3-point range.

On Tuesday evening versus the Utah Jazz, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer notched his 39,000th point when he hit a 3-pointer with just over seven minutes to go in the first quarter.

This is the fourth and final game of group play in the in-season tournament for Los Angeles. It will host the Dallas Mavericks, who are off to a surprising 9-5 start and are the league’s second-highest-scoring team, on Wednesday.
