LB Zeke Turner headed to 49ers

After six seasons with the Cardinals as a special teams ace, Turner will now join the rival 49ers.

The Arizona Cardinals are losing another of their own free agents. After six seasons in Arizona, linebacker and special teams ace Zeke Turner is signing a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers, according to Aaron Wilson.

Turner has been with the Cardinals since he was signed as a rookie free agent in 2018 out of Washington. He played safety in college but transitioned to linebacker.

But almost all his playing time for six years has been as an ace special teamer.

He played over 300 special teams snaps in four of six seasons and would have the other two if he had not missed time with injuries.

He led the team with 12 special teams tackles in 2023. He played 50 defensive snaps all season and actually started a game. he had 10 tackles on defense.

He is expected to compete for playing time at linebacker. He could fill the third linebacker role that Oren Burks previously played.
