LB Jesse Luketa’s regular season is over as he lands on IR

Luketa lands on IR and Milo Eifler is signed from the practice squad.

The Arizona Cardinals announced a roster move Friday that ends at least the regular season for a player. They placed outside linebacker Jesse Luketa on injured reserve with a thigh injury he suffered on Sunday in the team’s 30-17 win over the New England Patriots.

He will miss the remainder of the regular season at least the wild card round of the playoffs if they make the postseason.

To replace him on the roster, they signed inside linebacker Milo Eifler from the practice squad to the active roster.

With Mack Wilson ruled out, Eifler gives the Cardinals depth and should play special teams, while Krys Barnes will start alongside Kyzir White with Owen Pappoe as the main defensive depth at inside linebacker.

Luketa finishes his season having played in 10 games, starting two. He had 21 total tackles, three sacks, four tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and a forced fumble. His three sacks were the first of his career.

He will be a restricted free agent after the season.

With Luketa out, Baron Browning, Julian Okwara and Victor Dimukeje will move up in role off the edge.
