The Green  Bay Packers selected fourth-year linebacker Blake Martinez as the team’s nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in 2019.
Nominees are picked by teams based on a player’s outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field.
Martinez, who leads the Packers in tackles, will wear a special decal on his helmet celebrating the nomination for the rest of the season. All 32 nominees will receive a donation of up to $50,000 to the player’s charity of choice.
Every year since 1970, a winner has been selected from a group of 32 nominees. This year’s winner will be announced during the “NFL Honors” show on Feb. 1.
Defensive lineman Kenny Clark was the team’s nominee in 2018. Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long won the award.
