Laviska Shenault Jr. exits Week 6 game with ankle injury

Panthers WR Laviska Shenault Jr. was carted off with an ankle injury. He is questionable to return.

Update (2:44 p.m. ET):

The Carolina Panthers started off fast and furious down in South Beach on Sunday, jumping out to a shocking 14-0 lead in the first quarter over the 4-1 Miami Dolphins. But the tide would proceed to turn—and wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., unfortunately, got caught up in it.

Shenault Jr. exited during the second quarter of the contest with what was originally announced as a leg injury. Further clarification, thanks to Augusta Stone of Panthers.com, revealed he sustained a fibula injury.

The setback came with seven minutes remaining in the first half, when Shenault Jr. was wrapped up on a reception at Carolina’s own 25-yard line. After he was tended to by trainers and brought to the sideline, the fourth-year pass catcher was carted off into the locker room.

To that point, Shenault Jr. had recorded three grabs for 15 yards and a 2-yard run on the day. Running back Raheem Blackshear took over on kick return duties.

As of halftime, Shenault Jr. remains questionable to return.
