LaVar Ball went back on TV and shared some of his most ridiculous takes yet

LaVar Ball once said he could beat Michael Jordan. It turns out that wasn’t his worst take.

It’s been a while since we last heard from LaVar Ball on a daytime sports program, but the Big Baller returned to FS1’s Undisputed on Tuesday and dropped some of the hottest takes he’s ever shared on national television.

Ball gave his analysis of the upcoming NBA playoffs, and unsurprisingly predicted that Lonzo Ball’s New Orleans Pelicans will make the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. The Pelicans are currently 26-34, but are only 3.5 games back of the Grizzlies in the standings, and rookie Zion Williamson has been stellar since his debut in January.

A berth as the 8-seed would likely mean that the Pelicans would face the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round – and Ball believes that his son would lead New Orleans to an upset over the Lakers.

“The Lakers will lose. And let me tell you why. You’ve got my son in a different mode. You’ve never seen my son in playoff mode and you ain’t never seen him in revenge mode.”

A total of five 8 seeds in NBA history have beaten a No. 1 seed in the first round, most recently in 2012. It’s highly unlikely that the Pelicans could take out the Lakers, but not impossible. Let’s move on.

Ball also stated that one of his sons will lead the NBA in scoring in the next few years. Ball wasn’t talking about Lonzo (career PPG: 10.6) or LaMelo, who is expected to be a top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, but LiAngelo Ball, who most recently became a practice squad player for a G League team.

“Zion can lead this league in scoring regularly until my other son gets there. When Gelo gets here, you can forget it. It’s over. Gelo’s always been the best scorer everywhere he go, and I’m telling folks this: When he gets in the NBA, within three years, I guarantee you he’s a scoring champ. Guarantee.”

Skip and Shannon asked Ball to clarify to make sure which son he was talking about, and he confirmed he means LiAngelo, the same player who averaged 12 points per game during his short-lived career in Lithuania.
