The DeAndre Hopkins and New England Patriots visit has come and gone with no deal in place. So is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Well, it all just depends on the expectations.

For those hoping for an imminent deal between the two sides, the fact that an agreement hasn’t come together yet might feel like a bit of a bummer. However, for those in the camp that believes the tortoise wins the race, there might be hope to pull from in the latest update.

The Athletic’s Jeff Howe reported there is optimism that the two sides can reach an agreement. He also mentioned the Patriots were still making a push, while Hopkins is in town.

Hopkins is reportedly in no hurry to make a decision. He might even consider taking things all the way up to training camp in late July. ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote:

Hopkins, 31, has not been in a rush to sign with a team and has considered waiting until closer to training camp in late July to make a move, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The Patriots run the risk of another team getting involved if Hopkins leaves without a deal, but they’d obviously be in the mix. They still have the cap space and a clear need as motivation to get a deal done.

It just might take a bit longer than they hoped.
