Pro Football Focus released a new mock draft as the NFL combine began this week. In this new set of projections, the Arizona Cardinals select a receiver.
They select Oklahoma wideout CeeDee Lamb, who was teammates with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
The reunion of Lamb and Kyler Murray is just too good to pass up for Arizona at No. 8 overall. The former Oklahoma standout wide receiver is currently ranked as the sixth-best prospect in the 2020 class after earning the eighth-best overall grade (90.0) of any qualifying FBS receiver in 2019.
There is a debate as to whether Lamb or Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy is the No. 1 receiver in the draft and which player the Cardinals would select if given the opportunity. In this mock draft, they don’t get that chance because Jeudy is taken fourth overall by the New York Giants.
In this scenario, only two quarterbacks are taken before the Cardinals’ pick at No. 8. The presumed top three defensive players in the draft — Chase Young, Jeff Okudah and Isaiah Simmons — are all off the board. However, no offensive lineman is taken.
The Cardinals have their choice of Lamb, any of the top tackles or someone like defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw, who goes ninth in this mock draft.
So, in this scenario, the question becomes this — whom should the Cardinals draft if the choice is between Lamb and the best tackle in the draft?
That is a question we don’t have the answer to quite yet.
