One bad game and the rankings turn against you.
In the latest ESPN FPI rankings, the Clemson Tigers fell out of the top ten and currently sit at 18. After the Duke loss, the FPI ratings projected the Tigers only to win seven games and finish with four losses.
If these projections come to fruition, it will be the first time the Tigers have won less than ten games since 2010.
Clemson has struggled recently, winning only three out of their last seven games dating back to last season. Several analysts have raised concerns about the team’s direction, and ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) is not predicting a favorable outcome for the rest of the 2023 season.
It will take a big game against Florida State at the end of the month for the Tigers to earn more respect from the rankings and analysts.
