Late offensive woes doom Vols against Ole Miss

Recapping Tennessee’s loss to Ole Miss Tuesday night.

Second-half offensive woes spelled defeat for the University of Tennessee men’s basketball team Tuesday night at Ole Miss.

The No. 11 Volunteers blew a halftime lead against the Rebels and came up on the short end of a 52-50 Southeastern Conference decision at The Pavilion in Oxford.

The Vols (12-4, 5-4 SEC) had a 28-22 lead at halftime, but made just 5-of-20 from the floor after the break. The result was Tennessee’s third loss in five games.

The Vols had an opportunity to win at Ole Miss (9-8, 4-6) by a desperation 3-point shot by Josiah-Jordan James went awry as time expired.

Yves Pons led the Vols with 13 points, Keon Johnson added 11 and James finished with 10, while John Fulkerson scored eight. James was the Vols leading rebounder as he pulled down six boards.

Devontae Shuler paced the Rebels with 15 points and seven rebounds. Romello White added 14 points and six rebounds for Ole Miss.
