Las Vegas’ new Raiders stadium looks incredible under the pink supermoon

Allegiant Stadium is a massive addition to the Vegas skyline.

If these photos are anything to go by, the Las Vegas Raiders are going to have an incredible new stadium to play in whenever the NFL season gets underway.

Fondly referred to as the Death Star, Allegiant Stadium sits at the far end of the Vegas strip and is already an imposing addition to the city’s famed “skyline.” The large, black disk has been ribbed for its hockey puck like exterior, but it is undoubtedly one cool ass building. The 65,000 seat stadium is still being constructed, even during the coronavirus pandemic, and expected to open with the start of the NFL season.

To get a sense of just how it stacks up compared to the rest of the Vegas strip, check out these photos from Getty Images photographer Ethan Miller, who took the shots against the backdrop of the mountain range and a rising pink supermoon.

As you can see from the photos, the Raiders new home is not a subtle addition to the city. It’s a huge statement building and competes with some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, like the Luxor Pyramid. According to records, the stadium so far as cost about $1.9 billion, with the Raiders putting up the majority of the money and a tax on hotel rooms providing about $750 million in additional funding. It also looks really dope from the outside at night. After so long playing in the crummy Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, this is most certainly an upgrade.
