The Philadelphia 76ers are moving forward in a new era as they welcome a new coach in Doc Rivers to lead the way. Rivers replaces Brett Brown who did a pretty good job as coach of this team for seven seasons as he guided the team through a massive rebuilding process.
Rivers brings a lot of credibility to the head coaching chair in Philadelphia and he will hold his guys accountable as they look to move forward from a tough 2019-20 season.
Larry Brown is the last Sixers coach to take the team to the NBA Finals in 2001 with the help of Allen Iverson so he knows all about success in the league. He spoke with The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Marc Narducci over the phone to discuss what’s going on with the Sixers and he had a glowing review of Rivers.
Brown told Narducci:
“Doc is the perfect kind of guy for Philly in their situation,” Brown said. “When you look at Doc’s background being in Orlando, Boston and the Clippers, he had to take over different kinds of programs with different kinds of personnel and I thought he did a great job maximizing everybody’s talent. I think Sixers fans should be very excited.”
Nobody knows when the 2020-21 season will begin, but the hire of Rivers is looking like it will do a lot of good for the Sixers and their talented team moving forward. [lawrence-related id=38166,38162,38154]
