Boston Celtics legendary forward Larry Bird will be a major character in a new HBO drama series about the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, and the role will be played by actor Bo Burnham, per Variety’s Joe Otterson.

Burnham will play one of several Celtics who figure prominently in the pitched rivalry between these two teams in 80s. It takes place during a period when the NBA Finals were dominated by the two iconic teams, and explores the historic era from the Lakers perspective. Adam McKay’s Los Angeles Lakers drama, based on the book “Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s,” by Jeff Pearlman, will also feature Michael Chiklis as Red Auerbach.

It will also cast Sally Field as Jessie Buss, Adrien Brody as Pat Riley, John C. Reilly as Jerry Buss, Jason Clarke as Jerry West, Quincy Isaiah as Magic Johnson, and Solomon Hughes as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
