The Florida Gators may have clinched an SEC East title, but UF still doesn’t know if ti will be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament after falling to the Kentucky Wildcats, 6-4, Friday night.
Wyatt Langford belted a pair of homers in the first and sixth innings, and Jac Caglianone hit No. 28 of the year, extending his program record. Despite those three big flies, Florida came up short for the rest of the night, mustering up just two more hits throughout the game.
Brandon Sproat struck out seven to hit the 100 mark on the year, but he ended up giving up six runs through five-plus innings. Jameson Fisher threw in relief for the first time in over a month and finished out the game with three innings of scoreless baseball. He surrendered just two hits and two walks.
Kentucky did most of its damage in the middle innings. Two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth put the Wildcats up 6-3 and they never really looked back.
Vanderbilt stormed back to beat Arkansas tonight, too, keeping Florida’s hopes for the top spot in the SEC Tournament alive. It will take a win on Saturday as well as an Arkansas loss.
