The first win is in the books.
After losing the first game of his XFL coaching career a week ago Sunday, former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops got to celebrate the first time as his Dallas Renegades came away with a 25-18 win over the Los Angeles Wildcats.
Stoops was able to get his prized possession back for week two as former Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones made his anticipated XFL debut on Sunday. Jones had an up-and-down first XFL start, throwing two interceptions, but he finished with 305 passing yards on 28-of-40 passing and a touchdown.
The game started to take a turn in the fourth-quarter when running back Cameron Artis-Payne bounced around the left side of the line for a 21-yard touchdown run. After the Wildcats answered, Jones and the Renegades put together a seven play, 64-yard drive capped off by another Artis-Payne touchdown run to push their lead back up to seven.
Former Oklahoma wide receiver Jeff Badet caught six passes for 53 yards against Los Angeles.
Dallas lost in week one 15-9 to the St. Louis BattleHawks.
Stoops, Jones and the Dallas Renegades will be back in action on Saturday on the road at the Seattle Dragons at 4 p.m. CT on FOX.
