Following back-to-back triple-doubles, LaMelo Ball has been ruled out of Saturday’s matchup with the Brisbane Bullets.

Up until this point, Ball had not missed a game of the NBL season but has been ruled out this weekend due to a sore foot with the incident occurring during training this week.

This minor setback leaves the Hawks even shorter at the point guard position, following Aaron Brooks’ season-ending Achilles injury in late October.

Ball’s injury comes as disappointing news after Illawarra announced the signing of import swingman Darington Hobson with fans now having to wait at least another week to see the two on the court together.

Ball is currently averaging 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 31.3 minutes per game across the opening 12 games. His shooting struggles have seen him post percentages of 37.5 percent from the field, 25.0 percent from three and 72.3 percent from the line.
