18-year-old LaMelo Ball is among the players in the conversation to be the top player selected in the 2020 NBA Draft but that may not happen if the Golden State Warriors land the No. 1 pick.
According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, per his sources, the Warriors are not very high on Ball given his flaws as a top prospect in the draft.
Ball wasn’t a consistent 3-point shooter during his time with the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League and he didn’t show improvement as a defender.
The Warriors’ reported lack of interest in Ball may not be surprising since they have Stephen Curry, who is healthy again after missing most of the season due to a broken hand.

Ball is also expected to need time to develop and playing time may not be available next season since the Warriors should be back in playoff contention with a healthy roster expected to be ready.
Of course, the draft order has not been set and it is unclear when the NBA Draft Lottery may be held due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While the Warriors had the worst record in the NBA at the time of the shutdown, they are not guaranteed to land the No. 1 overall pick since the teams with the three worst records all have the same odds in the lottery.
In other words, a lot can change between now and the time the draft is held.
