Lamar Jackson says Ravens underestimated Titans in the playoffs

Lamar Jackson says the Ravens underestimated the Titans in the playoffs.

The Tennessee Titans stunned the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round last season with a 28-12 win, and quarterback Lamar Jackson believes it was because his team underestimated their opponent.

When speaking to the media on Tuesday, Jackson admits the Titans “caught us by surprise” in the playoffs, according to ESPN.

“That’s what happened in the playoffs, and we end up losing to the team people had us favored over,” Jackson said. “It’s any given Sunday. You can’t underestimate no team, no opponent and that’s what we did.

“So I’m looking forward to this 2020 season playing the Browns first. … Don’t underestimate your opponents. They caught us by surprise. That’s all it was.”

Jackson, who committed three turnovers in the game (two interceptions, one fumble), also pointed to his play as a reason the Ravens lost, despite his throwing for 365 yards and rushing for another 143.

“I had a lot of mistakes on my behalf,” Jackson said. “Three turnovers — that shouldn’t happen. But [Tennessee] came out to play.”

The reigning NFL MVP also admitted that he thinks about the loss all the time and is reminded of it by comments whenever he posts on social media.

The Ravens are going to get a chance to somewhat avenge their loss during the 2020 regular season, as Tennessee will have to travel to Baltimore in Week 11.

Even if the Ravens score a victory in that game, it still won’t erase the huge playoff loss at the hands of the Titans. Only returning the favor and knocking the Titans out of the playoffs can truly do that.
