With the Cleveland Browns charging back in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was nowhere on the sideline. The team officially announced Jackson was in the locker room getting treatment for cramps, but the internet just couldn’t take that reason at face value.
Social media brought a treasure trove of memes and folks joking that Jackson’s absence was bathroom-related, not due to cramps. Even Jackson’s own teammates and other former players got in on the fun.

I know that kind of run, and it ain’t because of cramps lol… pic.twitter.com/icg4Wv9pgt

As Robert Griffin III’s tweet alluded to, Jackson eventually returned to the field, immediately finding wide receiver Marquise Brown for a 44-yard touchdown pass to retake the lead. After Cleveland scored again to tie the game back up at 42, Jackson led Baltimore into field goal range, and kicker Justin Tucker booted a field goal from 55 yards with two seconds remaining.
Jackson didn’t waste much time defending himself after the game, telling reporters he didn’t “pull a Paul Pierce.” If you don’t quite get the reference, FTW’s Charles Curtis broke it down here, but suffice to say Jackson knew what people were thinking already.

Jackson took the Twitter jokes in stride but was adamant it was cramping that took him out of the game.

Either way, it was a magical finish to what many consider the game of the year. Jackson proved he’s capable of winning big games with his arm as well as his legs, and the Ravens are back to looking like they might be Super Bowl contenders yet again.
