Lakers will start Kyle Kuzma in place of injured Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

The Los Angeles Lakers are going with a supersized lineup tonight when they take on the Denver Nuggets.

The Los Angeles Lakers don’t have a ton of guards at their disposal and in response to that, head coach Frank Vogel is deciding to start big.

Vogel told reporters on Monday evening that the Lakers are starting a super-sized lineup against the Denver Nuggets, putting Kyle Kuzma in the lineup to replace Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is sitting out this game because of an ankle injury, according to Bill Oram of The Athletic. Danny Green will be back in the lineup for the Lakers tonight after sitting out Saturday night’s loss to the Indiana Pacers with a sore hip, which obviously wasn’t too serious.

The Lakers take the court tonight against a pretty big Denver squad, who just got back point guard Jamal Murray. Nikola Jokic is still a major issue for opponents and the Nuggets have gotten a major boost from rookie 6-foot-10 wing Michael Porter Jr., who is thriving in a starting role and is healthy for the first time in his NBA career. Kuzma will likely draw the early assignment on Porter in Monday’s game.
