Lakers vs. 76ers: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Our prediction and best bet for Wednesday’s Lakers-76ers game.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will put their perfect 10-0 road record on the line Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN.

The 76ers (12-6) are coming off a loss to the Pistons, but Joel Embiid missed that game with back tightness and is expected to be starting as usual on Wednesday. The Lakers (14-4) are in the middle of a seven-game road trip, and have already bagged wins against the Bucks, Bulls and Cavs.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Lakers -3.5
  • Money line: Lakers -160 / 76ers +135
  • Over-under: 221.5

Jared Dudley and Kostas Antetokounmpo are out for the Lakers, while LeBron James (ankle) is questionable and Anthony Davis (ankle) is probable.

Mike Scott (right knee swelling) and Vincent Poirier (health and safety protocol) are out for the Sixers, and Seth Curry (ankle) is available.

Advice and prediction

According to Action Network’s public betting info, a whopping 68 percent of bets are on the Lakers to cover, and 81 percent of bets are on the over. This line opened at Lakers -2 and has already been bet all the way up to 3.5 – but while the Lakers have been rolling of late, they’re facing of the best teams in the Eastern Conference at near full strength. I’d feel fine at Lakers -2, but I’d avoid a bet on the spread tonight and instead focus on the total.

The 76ers have topped 221.5 in each of their last five games, but they’re now facing a Lakers defense ranked second in the league in defensive rating (Philadelphia is not far behind at 9th). Under bets have been the best option for Lakers bettors this season by a wide margin, with 12 of 18 games hitting the under. I like the Lakers on Wednesday in a tight, low-scoring game. Take the Under 221.5

Prediction: Lakers 109, 76ers 106
