Lakers to watch Western Conference play-in game together

JaVale McGee said that the Los Angeles Lakers are planning on watching the game together but they won’t be attending it.

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to watch Saturday’s Western Conference play-in game together to get a better idea of the two teams they could face in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. The Portland Trail Blazers and the Memphis Grizzlies face-off for a chance to play the Lakers today, and Lakers center JaVale McGee discussed the team’s plans after their practice on Saturday afternoon, according to Melissa Rohlin of Sports Illustrated’s All Lakers blog.

The Blazers went 6-2 in their 8 seeding games to earn the 8th seed, meaning they have to be beaten twice by the Grizzlies in order to miss a date with the Lakers, with a Game 1 scheduled for Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies went 2-6 in the seeding games and have struggled offensively to get going. However, they are a young team playing for their playoff lives for the first time, so they will be very motivated to not be eliminated today.
