Lakers to face Nuggets in Western Conference Finals after Clippers collapse

LeBron James and Anthony Davis will face Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and the Nuggets in the West Finals, which begin Friday.

The NBA had planned for the L.A. vs. L.A. series from the beginning of the season. Two opening night games, back in October and late this July, featured the Lakers and Clippers facing each other. But as 2020 has reminded us time and again, the best-laid plans often go awry, even those of a multibillion-dollar business like the NBA. Credit the Denver Nuggets for crashing the party.

Behind a triple-double from Nikola Jokic and a great game from Jamal Murray, the Denver Nuggets stunned the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7 on Tuesday night, completing a 3-1 comeback to move on to the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. Game 1 of the West Finals begins on Friday night. All games of the Western Conference Finals will be carried on TNT.

The Clippers started the playoffs as the favorites to win the NBA Championship. And after leaving the Toronto Raptors following a championship last summer, Leonard is now leaving the postseason with the same result as his former team.
