Lakers player grades: L.A. falls apart against Trail Blazers

The Lakers blew a golden opportunity against the Trail Blazers by blowing what seemed like a safe lead in crunch time.

This was supposed to be the first win of the season for the Los Angeles Lakers and the day on which they started to turn their season around.

They led early 6-0, then 10-2, only to see the Portland Trail Blazers build a sizable lead late in the first quarter and into the second quarter.

Los Angeles fought back and took back the lead late in the third quarter, and with 1:56 left in the final frame, it took a 102-95 advantage.

Instead of getting into the victory column, the Lakers failed to finish the game strong, and they ended up losing 106-104.

They once again couldn’t buy a 3-pointer, as they shot 6-of-33 from downtown, and down the stretch, their defense didn’t pick up the slack.

For the Blazers, Damian Lillard scored 41 on 15-of-25 shooting.

The Lakers are now 0-3, and the anxiety is building in Southern California.
