With the 2021-22 season approaching in October, the full game schedule is close to being revealed.
One of the most anticipated aspects of the schedule release is seeing which teams will play on Christmas Day, as the NBA typically pits two heavyweight teams against each other for a full day of action.
Last year, the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Dallas Mavericks in a matchup between LeBron James and young star Luka Doncic. Though Doncic scored 27 points to lead his team, James and Anthony Davis combined for 50 in a 138-115 win.
This season, it looks like the NBA is putting the two favorites from each conference against each other, as the Lakers will face the Brooklyn Nets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:
Plenty of discuss on The Jump at 3 PM ET today with unveiling of Christmas Day games, including, sources say: Trae Young and Atlanta Hawks returning to play the New York Knicks at MSG. Plus, battle of the East-West titans: The Brooklyn Nets vs. the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples.

The Lakers are headlined by the new trio of James, Davis and Russell Westbrook, while the Nets roll out the dynamic offensive trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.
Players like Patty Mills, who chose to sign with the Nets over the Lakers, Blake Griffin, who had some slight shade for the new-look Lakers roster, and Joe Harris, the 3-point specialist, also round out the scoring punches Brooklyn deploys.
If both teams can manage to stay healthy by the time that game comes around, it should be one of the best games of the year.
