The Los Angeles Lakers announced LeBron James is out Thursday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The injury is labeled as a rectus abdominal strain, which may have occurred against the Houston Rockets Tuesday when he took a quick trip to the tunnel to recover but returned to finish the game.
James didn’t play in last week’s game against the Thunder when the Lakers blew a 26-point lead and lost, so his absence could benefit Oklahoma City’s young squad.
As for James’ timetable, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported he will miss about a week because team doctors want to be cautious with his return.
If that week-long timetable holds true, James will miss at least the next three games against the Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, three teams with plenty of talent.
