Lakers guard Rajon Rondo enters health and safety protocol

Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo becomes the latest player to enter the protocol.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced Sunday guard Rajon Rondo has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocol.

Rondo joins Trevor Ariza, Austin Reaves and Kent Bazemore as the player currently out due to the protocol. Malik Monk and Avery Bradley cleared it Saturday morning prior to facing the Brooklyn Nets. Head coach Frank Vogel is also in the protocol.

Rondo fell out of the rotation early in the season but got reinstated once the Lakers lost several guards because of the protocol. Isaiah Thomas was signed to help in that regard, but Rondo still struggled to make an impact.

The 35-year-old veteran is averaging 3.1 points and 3.7 assists on 32.4% shooting overall and 26.7% from deep in 16.1 minutes per game.
