Lakers come away with blowout win after scary fall by Davis

A sick LeBron James had 31 points, five rebounds, and five assists as the Los Angeles Lakers pushed their current win-streak to six games.

While the Los Angeles Lakers had a few scary minutes on Tuesday night as they watched Anthony Davis writhing in pain on the floor and walking off slowly to the locker room, they handled their business against the New York Knicks behind 31 points from a sick LeBron James. The win is the Lakers sixth straight win heading into a two-game road trip.

James, who missed the Lakers morning shootaround with an illness, had 31, five points and five rebounds as the Lakers defeated the Knicks, 117-87. Davis left the game late in the third quarter and did return with what the Lakers are calling a sacral contusion. So while Davis’ injury looked bad and stopped the game for several minutes, it doesn’t appear to be very serious although it did look like it hurt.

As for the rest of the Lakers, Kyle Kuzma had 16 points and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who was the victim of a flagrant 2 foul from New York’s Bobby Portis, had 16 points. Dwight Howard had 13 rebounds and hit a 3-pointer in garbage time while Rajon Rondo had 10 assists.

Despite the carnage that ensued, the Lakers escaped with their 30th victory of the season and capped off a perfect six-game homestand.
