Now that the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to send guard Kendrick Nunn and three second-round draft picks to the Washington Wizards for Rui Hachimura, the talk is they aren’t done wheeling and dealing.
Most agree Hachimura will help, but he will not make them championship contenders. One or two more trades will be needed to get there.
With the NBA trade deadline just over two weeks away, LJ Ellis of SpursTalk.com reported the Lakers are talking to the San Antonio Spurs about a deal involving Russell Westbrook that could possibly bring them center Jakob Poeltl.
Via SpursTalk.com (h/t Lakers Daily):
“Interestingly, a team insider says that talks between the Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers that involve Russell Westbrook are still alive,” Ellis wrote. “Those talks have been on the back burner for a couple months, but I’ve been told that both the Lakers and Spurs remain open to the possibility depending on how the next two weeks play out prior to the trade deadline.
“In addition to Poeltl, the Lakers are said to be interested in Josh Richardson and Doug McDermott.”
This is a trade that was reportedly discussed earlier this season. Poeltl could give L.A. additional depth at center, while Richardson is a 3-and-D wing and McDermott is the type of 3-point sniper it badly needs.
