Lakers are interested in Utah Jazz guard Patrick Beverley

The Jazz may look to trade veteran guard Patrick Beverley, and the Lakers have been rumored to be interested.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ roster already looks somewhat different than it did this past season, but by no means are they done making changes.

They have gotten much younger, and adding a veteran or two wouldn’t hurt. In addition, the team still needs better 3-point shooting and perimeter defense.

L.A. is reportedly interested in acquiring guard Patrick Beverley, a player who could help in all those areas.

Via Lakers Daily:

“New Utah Jazz guard Patrick Beverley has reportedly drawn interest from multiple playoff contenders, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.

“According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, Beverley is a strong candidate to be traded.

“‘Patrick Beverley also appears to be a strong trade candidate,’ Fischer wrote. ‘The former [Minnesota] Timberwolves point guard has drawn interest from the Lakers and Heat, sources told B/R. Philadelphia had been mentioned as a potential Beverley suitor, with his past Houston experience and the [Philadelphia] Sixers’ obvious deep [Houston] Rockets connections, but it seems unlikely that Beverley would now be Philadelphia-bound after the team acquired De’Anthony Melton on draft night.'”

Lakers fans will likely best remember Beverley as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers a couple of seasons ago.

He seemed to be a rival of the Purple and Gold at the time, but he did recently hint that he wouldn’t mind joining the Lakers.

Beverley has always been a good 3-point shooter, and although his accuracy from that distance fell to 34.3 percent this past season, he picked things up in February and March as the Timberwolves made their charge towards a playoff spot.

But he is perhaps best known for his on-the-ball defense against opposing ball-handlers, a trait that has earned him the nickname “Mr. 94 Feet.”

Having just turned 34 years of age, the question is how much Beverley has left in the tank.
