It has become more of a common occurrence than a rarity that the Los Angeles Chargers second-round rookie receiver shows up in a big way in big games. On Saturday night, Ladd McConkey proved once again to be the most reliable and explosive weapon in the Charger’s arsenal in a must-win game as he lit up the New England Patriots all afternoon.

McConkey was open all afternoon and helped the Chargers maintain what ended up being a 40-7 blowout win. On the afternoon McConkey hauled in 8 catches, for 94 yards, and a paid of explosive touchdowns. McConkey proved to be far too much to handle for any defensive back on New England’s roster as he was open on any given play.
As the Chargers are destined for the playoffs it will be McConkey that will potentially be the most important rookie in the postseason as the aerial assault of Los Angeles runs more or less through him. It’s fair to say at this point that Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers front office found themselves a steal in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft with their newfound franchise wide receiver.
