[autotag]Labaron Philon[/autotag] is one of the best basketball players in the country and was recently named the MaxPreps Alabama high school basketball Player of the Year.
Just a junior, he averaged 35 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.6 steals per game while shooting 52% from the field and 34% from 3-point range. He led Baker to a 25-7 record and a spot in the Class 7A State quarterfinals.
Philon committed to [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and Auburn back on Feb. 3. He is the No. 42 overall player and No. 6 point guard in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 1 player from Alabama.
This is the second straight season he has been honored as one of the best players in Alabama. The AHSAA named him their Class 7A Player of the Year last season.
