While Caris LeVert is returning for the Nets on Saturday to face the Toronto Raptors after his long layoff — a result of his thumb injury and ensuing surgery — Brooklyn will still be without Nic Claxton (left hamstring soreness) and Kyrie Irving (right shoulder impingement).
Heading into Saturday’s game, Irving has missed 22 games this season, making the matchup with the Raptors No. 23. Irving had already lost out on a $125,000 bonus for sitting out 12 games this season, and now he’s set to lose out on more money.
According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, Irving “will now miss out on two bonuses of $125,000 each for falling short of playing 60 games this season.” There are two bonuses because the “games played bonus [was] tied into statistical achievements.”
This means Irving is leaving $375,000 in incentives on the table this season.
