Kyrie Irving may have scored 25 points in the Nets’ recent 145-141 win over the Hawks, he wasn’t nearly as efficient as he’d been through his first three performances of 2020-21. And after going 10-for-27 from the floor in the win over Atlanta, Irving continued the downward trend in the loss to the Hawks, scoring 18 points on 6-for-21 shooting (2-for-11 from deep).
But Irving bounced back in a big way on Sunday, even though his effort came in a 123-122 loss to the Washington Wizards. Brooklyn’s point guard went off for 30 points on 10-for-20 shooting in 39 minutes of action. He still wasn’t efficient from 3-point territory, finishing 2-for-7, but it was an improvement from each of Irving’s last two performances.
Like Kevin Durant and Jarrett Allen, Irving logged a double-double against the Wizards. He had double-digit assists (10) for the first time this season, to go with his five rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots vs. Washington.
Aside from his 3-point shooting struggles, the one problematic Irving stat next from Sunday’s game was his turnover total (five). At the same time, it’s only the second time all season the point guard logged more than one turnover in a game (four vs. Charlotte on 12/27).
