Kyrie Irving responds to media-related fine: ‘I do not talk to Pawns’

Kyrie Irving didn’t seem too pleased with the NBA’s decision to fine him for what he did during NBA Media Week.

Kyrie Irving does not seem too pleased with the NBA after the league announced on Thursday that the Brooklyn Nets point guard was being fined $25,000 for his “refusal on several occasions this week to participate in team media availability.” Friday morning, Irving responded on his Instagram story, first by quoting the late Malcolm X:

“I’ve had enough of someone else’s propaganda. I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m fror [sic] Justice, no matter who it’s for or against. I’m a human being first and foremost, and as such I am for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.”

Then Irving wrote the following:

“I pray we utilize the ‘fine money’ for the marginalized communities in need, especially seeing where our world is presently. (I am) I am here for Peace, Love, and Greatness. So stop distracting me and my team and appreciate the Art. We move different over here.”

Irving closed with the following note:

“I do not talk to Pawns. My attention is worth more.”
