Kyrie Irving out vs. Magic, James Harden questionable

The Brooklyn Nets may still only have one of their superstars on the floor on Saturday against the Orlando Magic.

Kyrie Irving has not yet cleared the league’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols according to the Nets injury report for Saturday’s game against the Orlando Magic. When the NBA announced Irving’s fine for “violating the league’s Health and Safety Protocols, which among other things prohibit attending indoor social gatherings of 15 or more people or entering bars, lounges, clubs or similar establishments,” the league also stated Brooklyn’s point guard could play on Saturday if he continues to test negative for COVID-19.

Malika Andrews of ESPN is reporting that while Irving wants to return “the extensive time away from the court requires a period of ramping up basketball activities.”

James Harden may also be unavailable on Saturday, having been deemed questionable on Friday. The Nets are still waiting on the physicals of other players involved in the deal to be completed. Once those are done, Harden will be eligible to play.

Tyler Johnson was removed from the Nets injury report ahead of Saturday’s game. He’d been on their due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
