Prior to Friday’s rematch against Kyrie Irving’s old team, the Boston Celtics, Kenny Atkinson said Brooklyn’s point guard who have his shoulder evaluated. Irving has missed the last eight games for the Nets due to a right shoulder impingement, including the Nets’ latest 112-107 win over Boston at Barclays Center.
Irving will miss game No. 9 for the Nets on Sunday when Jimmy Butley and the Miami Heat come to Barclays Center. But, the point guard has made progress.
After Friday’s win over the Celtics, Atkinson informed reporters Irving has started to do core work. He added this next step as “a real positive sign for us.”

Without Irving, the Nets have gone to 6-2 and now have a 10-9 record. Much like the Celtics, Brooklyn faces a team in the Heat that’s been among the best the Eastern Conference has had to offer throughout 2019-20.
