For the first time since 2013, the Brooklyn Nets will play basketball on Christmas Day.
ESPN leaked its Christmas Day schedule on Tuesday, revealing the Nets will play none other than Kyrie Irving’s old team, the Boston Celtics, at the TD Garden at 5 p.m.
If Brooklyn’s point guard plays on Christmas Day, it will be the first time he faces his old team in the regular season. Irving was unable to play for the Nets in any of their games against the Celtics in 2019-20.
Irving will also have a chance to see Boston before their Christmas matchup. The Nets are scheduled to visit the Celtics at the TD Garden seven days before the holiday (December 18).
Along with the Nets-Celtics 5 p.m. matchup, ESPN will feature four more games on Christmas, according to ESPN’s own Adrian Wojnarowski:
- New Orleans Pelicans vs. Miami Heat at 12 p.m.
- Golden State Warriors vs. Milwaukee Bucks at 2:30 p.m.
- Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Lakers at 8 p.m.
- Los Angeles Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets at 10:30 pm.
