Kyrie Irving could return for Nets’ last game before All-Star break

Kyrie Irving might miss the Brooklyn Nets’ finals five games before the All-Star break — but that’s not a guarantee.

The Brooklyn Nets have been without Kyrie Irving for the last three games, and he will not be available again for Monday’s game in Indiana against the Pacers. He’s dealing with a medial ligament sprain in his right knee, which he sustained in Brooklyn’s loss to the Washington Wizards on February 1.

After Monday’s game, the Nets will only have one more contest before the 2020 NBA All-Star Game — another matchup with the Toronto Raptors, this time at Barclays Center (on Wednesday).

Given the scare Irving’s injury gave the Nets, and how he’s dealt with injuries left and right all season, having the point guard sit out the final game heading into the All-Star break might be the right move for Brooklyn.

But Kenny Atkinson isn’t ready to say Irving is out for the rest of the week, per Alex Schiffer of The Athletic. Brooklyn’s head coach told reporters in Toronto on Saturday the Nets point guard could still play in the midweek matchup. It’s something they still have to look into further.
