The Arizona Cardinals began their wee of practice on Wednesday and released their first injury report of the week. The biggest question entering the week was whether quarterback Kyler Murray would be able to play after suffering a leg injury late in Saturday’s 20-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
He answered that himself when he declared he would play and the first injury report of the week seems to confirm that. He was a full participant on Wednesday.
However, eight Cardinals players did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Larry Fitzgerald normally have Wednesday off but did have injury designations. Fitzgerald is dealing with a groin injury still and Hopkins has a hip injury, perhaps related to the fall he took in the end zone before halftime of Saturday’s game.
Defensive tackle Domata Peko had the day off.
Running back Chase Edmonds (hip) did not practice and is considered day-to-day this week. Tight ends Darrell Daniels (hamstring) and Maxx Williams (ankle) also sat out. Daniels progressed last week and played with the same injury. Williams is also day-to-day.
Linebacker Haason Reddick, the team’s sack leader with 12.5, sat out with a shoulder injury and safety Chris Banjo (hip) was new to the report this week. He did not practice either.
Tight end Dan Arnold, who had a back injury pop up last week, was limited. So were cornerback Drek Kirkpatrick (hamstring, calf) and running back Jonathan Ward (ankle). Kirkpatrick did not practice at all last week with the same injuries and, while active on Saturday, did not play.
There is some hope that safety Jalen Thompson will be back in the lineup against the Rams. After getting limited work last week for the first time since reinjuring his ankle, he was a full participant on Wednesday, suggesting he will probably be on the field on Sunday.
