Perhaps the biggest question for the Arizona Cardinals as they enter the final week of the season is whether or not rookie quarterback Kyler Murray will play against the Los Angeles Rams. He left the team’s win over the Seattle Seahawks in the third quarter with a hamstring injury.
It is not serious and he is considered day-to-day.
However, after one day of practice, Murray thinks he should be ready to go.
When asked Wednesday by reporters if he anticipates playing, he said, “as of right now, yeah.”
He said he was able to practice some. He was seen without a helmet throwing a football during the open part of practice. He said he got the hamstring worked on but noted, “it’s good.”
If Murray is able to play, he has the chance to finish a strong rookie season with more strong play.
He already has set several team records and is the only player in the league with more than 3,000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards. He is only the third rookie to ever do that.
By no means is he guaranteeing he will play. He just anticipates it right now.
“I think just see where I’m at at the end of the week and listen to the training staff,’ he said. “I’m going to be smart regardless of the situation. Understanding that if I can’t be myself then I’m not going to put myself out there. Like I said, I’m not going to hurt the team in that way, but if I can go, I’m going to go.”
If he can’t, Brett Hundley will get his first start since 2017.
