The Florida Gators snapped a three-game losing streak to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday to springboard the team into the driver’s seat for the SEC East crown as UF vies not only for an SEC Championship Game appearance but a spot in the College Football Playoff.
UF’s victory was decisive after a very shaky opening four minutes. The high point for Georgia came after a pick-six gave them a 21-14 lead — the last lead it would have — but it would not last long as Florida took a commanding 38-21 lead into the halftime locker room.
Make no mistake about it, it was Kyle Trask who dominated this game with a 34-for-43 passing performance that translated into 474 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Even after he lost his primary pass-catcher when Kyle Pitts was injured on a targeting penalty and Kadarius Toney mostly ineffective, Trask turned to his backfield to shoulder the burden.

In the end, Florida came away with a huge 44-28 win to advance to 4-1 on the season thanks to the stellar play of its star quarterback. Though Trask has slipped into an afterthought among many Heisman Trophy pundits of late, this performance should remind them of what he is fully capable of — against one of the best defenses in the nation, no less.
